Our Lady of the Rosary OSHC

Welcome to Our Lady of the Rosary Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC). We have a great team of wonderful educators that ensure our children are happy and engaged during the time they spend with us. Our focus is on our children, listening to their stories and developing opportunities to explore their interests. We also value our families input and are very grateful for the time our families have spent with us in our centre, sharing their experiences in their work or sharing their time to teach new skills.

Our children are encouraged to form a club if they have a group with common interests. This may be a science club or a cooking club or a soccer club. We provide extension activities to scaffold the children’s knowledge and passion.

I welcome all families to contact me for further information or to arrange an opportunity to meet our educators.

About our service

Our Waitara Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) is located on the grounds of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School. Our Waitara OSHC service is a Registered Carer.

Every day we have games, sport and craft by which a child can choose any activity they like. A snapshot of any given day the child may play with our construction toys, go outside to play games outside, come inside to make a rocket or other craft and then outside again to play cricket.

We have a wide range of construction toys, craft and sports equipment so that we can accommodate just about any interest. Our feedback system ensures the children are writing daily suggestions, whether it be about food, games, books or general interest, and this becomes the basis for our programming.

Our educators

Our Waitara OSHC is staffed by a dedicated team of professionals and consists of University training early childhood teachers and TAFE trained diploma educators.

Our team goal is to provide our children with an environment that is nurturing, safe and happy.

BY LISTENING...

  • To the voices of our children- for they are the reason we are here
  • To our parents - because they are the children’s first and most important teachers

BY REFLECTION...

  • On our children’s activities so we can better understand their needs and interestsOn our program so that is supports the children in their socialisation, their awareness of social justice and their physical and emotional wellbeing

BY SCAFFOLDING...

  • We  provide children with experiences that challenge and inspire, building on their curiosity, and imagination

BY THINKING ABOUT…

  • The joy for children of being in the momentOur children to have the sense  of belonging to our world, our country, our community and our familyBeing thoughtful, socially aware, caring, and compassionateCultural competence which is our understanding of our own culture and background as well as being open and respectful to other cultures.

BY TALKING ABOUT...

  • Identity which plays a vital role in children’s learning. When children know who they are and are confident in themselves, they are better able to learn and build relationships with others.
