Family Dispute Resolution/Mediation

Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) assists separating families to discuss issues and generate options to reach agreements involving children, families, property and finances.

The Family Law Act requires separating families to make a genuine effort to resolve their parenting issues at FDR before making an application to court, some exceptions apply.
Currently there are no legal requirements to resolve financial issues before applying to court, however mediation is the quickest and most cost effective process for reaching a settlement.

What to expect from FDR Mediation

Initially each party meets separately with an FDR Practitioner for a confidential assessment. If FDR is deemed appropriate a joint confidential mediation will be scheduled.

If you are discussing property/financial matters, your practitioner may suggest that you obtain legal advice before and after any joint session so that you can generate options and negotiate in an informed manner.

We deal with issues relating to:

Children/ Parenting Plans/ Contact with Grandparents/ Blended Family Issues/ Parent and Adolescent Issues/ Communication breakdowns/ Relocation and Passports/ Property and Financial Issues. However, we cannot offer legal advice but may refer you.

All FDR/ mediation fees are subsidised and are reasonable.
