MST-CAN Cohort – Workforce Pipeline

CatholicCare Diocese of Broken Bay has been successful in securing the Family Restoration and Preservation tender for the Multi-Systemic Therapy-Child Abuse and Neglect (MST-CAN) based in Wyong. This is a new service aimed at keeping vulnerable children and families together.

MST-CAN is an evidenced based model  which in the United States has been hugely successful in decreasing the numbers of children entering the Out of Home Care System.  The model requires rigorous adherence to the MST-CAN; program design, implementation process, clinical and therapeutic practice principles, data collection and outcomes measurement.

Currently we are looking to build a team for MST-CAN. The make up of the team is as follows:

  • Program Manager with oversight for family services (currently filled)
  • 1 x Supervisor Therapist (PhD or Master of Psychology),
  • 3 x Therapists (Master of Psychology or Social Work), and
  • 1 x Crisis Caseworker (Bachelor of Psychology or Social Work)

Ideally these will be individuals with a passion and understanding of Indigenous families and communities. The position descriptions have been attached for your perusal, and any referrals of suitably qualified individuals would be greatly appreciated. Interested persons can contact Winston Khong, the Lead Recruiter for MST-CAN on 0409 655 352, or email a cover letter and CV to This email address is being protected from spambots. As this is a very different model which has not been implemented previously in Australia,  we understand the need to be open-minded and flexible in adopting this program, and excited for the potential MST-CAN as a game-changer in therapeutic interventions with its strengths-based approach.
