Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training on the Coast

Centacare staff on theCentral Coastwill soon be undertaking Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training, developed by new Aboriginal worker Bobbi Murray.  Bobbi has prepared this program using local people and services to give staff a deeper understanding of the real local Aboriginal families.

Hospital Chaplaincy Roll-out Commences

The Broken Bay Diocesan Hospital Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care Plan is beginning to take shape, led by Centacare. Five Hospital Priests, have now been appointed, joining Fr Jaison Kuzhiyil and Fr Matthew Kurumpurath who has been working at Royal North; and three new Pastoral Care Practitioners – Leonie Puckeridge, Kathryn Nichols and Peter Brown. The first Pastoral Care team day was recently held at Centacare’s Star of the Sea conference room in the Caroline Chisholm Centre.

Athletes on the run!!!

Naremburn Family Centre Community Participation Program held their own 2012 Olympic games at Oxford Falls Peace Park in July. It was an action packed day full of sporting events. Everyone participated in all activities and gave their all in each event.

Supported Living Fund - Round 2, Stage 2 for Aboriginal and CALD people now open

Round 2, Stage 2 of the Supported Living Fund (SLF), for Aboriginal people and people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds, will open on Monday 10 September 2012 and close Friday 16 November 2012.
